Target Information
Lectin-Like Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor 1 (LOX-1) is a receptor responsible for the recognition, internalization, and degradation of oxidatively modified low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. OxLDL serves as a marker of atherosclerosis and triggers the activation and dysfunction of vascular endothelial cells, leading to pro-inflammatory responses, oxidative conditions, and apoptosis. In mice, LOX-1 functions primarily in the recognition of oxidized low-density lipoprotein, the promotion of atherosclerosis, the regulation of inflammatory responses, and the mediation of oxidative stress and cell apoptosis.
