Target Information

Lactate Dehydrogenase B specifically and simultaneously catalyzes the interconversion of pyruvate to lactate, along with the corresponding conversion of NADH to NAD+. In mice, the L-lactate dehydrogenase B chain plays several crucial roles, including facilitating lactate metabolism, energy production, metabolic regulation of muscle and adipose tissue, and potentially acting as a tumor suppressor. In mouse skeletal muscle, LDHB expression is closely linked to the muscle's oxidative metabolic capacity. Research indicates that sustained activation of LDHB can lead to adaptive oxidative reprogramming in skeletal muscle, thereby enhancing its oxidative capacity and endurance. Additionally, the level of LDHB expression correlates with mice's exercise performance in treadmill experiments, and its absence results in decreased exercise capacity.
