Target Information

Interleukin-33 (IL-33) is a cytokine that interacts with the IL1RL1/ST2 receptor, triggering the activation of NF-kappa-B and MAPK signaling pathways in target cells. It plays a role in the maturation of Th2 cells by inducing the secretion of T-helper type 2 cytokines. In mice, IL-33 has diverse functions, including supporting nervous system development and participating in various immune regulatory and inflammatory responses. In a colorectal cancer model, IL-33 facilitates tumor progression by recruiting ST2+ TILs and boosting their activity. In a skin infection model, IL-33 combats Staphylococcus aureus growth by inducing inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression and enhancing macrophages' antibacterial capabilities.
