Target Information
Interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-2 is a cell surface receptor involved in regulating IL-13-mediated responses. It acts as a decoy receptor, inhibiting both IL-13- and IL-4-mediated signal transduction through the JAK-STAT pathway, thereby modulating immune responses and inflammation. Additionally, it serves as a functional signaling receptor for IL-13 via an alternative pathway involving AP-1, which ultimately leads to TGFB1 production. In mice, IL13RA2 has several roles, including immune regulation, tumor therapy, inflammatory response, tissue repair, and influencing tumor invasiveness. Furthermore, IL13RA2 is crucial in inflammatory diseases; for instance, IL13RA2-deficient mice exhibit faster recovery from colitis, linked to reduced eosinophil levels, which are vital for anti-inflammatory processes and tissue repair.
