Target Information

Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is a cytokine that serves as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhances the lytic activity of NK and lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulates IFN-gamma production by resting PBMCs. In mice, IL-12B (also known as IL-12p40) has a vital role in the immune system, particularly in regulating inflammatory responses and maintaining immune homeostasis. IL-12B is crucial for sustaining the intestinal mucosal barrier, and mice lacking IL-12B exhibit more severe disease progression and increased colon damage in the DSS-induced colitis model.
