Target Information

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) is a cytokine present intracellularly in nearly all resting non-hematopoietic cells, playing a crucial role in inflammation and bridging the innate and adaptive immune systems. Upon binding to its receptor IL1R1, along with the accessory protein IL1RAP, it forms a high-affinity interleukin-1 receptor complex. In mice, the role of IL-1α in inflammation, immune regulation, anti-infection, and pathological conditions is complex and varied. While it can enhance the body's defense mechanisms by promoting inflammatory responses, it may also exacerbate pathological damage in certain cases.
