Target Information

Ubiquitin-like protein ISG15 is crucial for the innate immune response to viral infections, functioning either by conjugating to target proteins (ISGylation) or acting as a free, unconjugated protein. ISGylation entails a series of enzymatic reactions involving E1, E2, and E3 enzymes, which facilitate the conjugation of ISG15 to a lysine residue on the target protein. In mice, this protein is encoded by the Isg15 gene. The functions of ISG15 in mice are mainly concentrated in antiviral, immune regulation and cell metabolism. It modifies proteins through ISGylation to limit viral replication and exhibits important biological significance under a variety of pathological conditions.
