Target Information
Interferon regulatory factor 7 (IRF7) belongs to the interferon regulatory factors (IRFs) family and is positioned downstream in the signaling pathway mediated by pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). It is crucial for the production of type I interferon (IFN-I). Compared to wild-type (WT) mice, IRF7 knockout (Irf7-/-) mice exhibit lower IL-6 gene expression levels, reduced expression of pro-fibrotic factors in fibroblasts, decreased subcutaneous thickness, and milder inflammatory responses, resulting in less skin fibrosis following bleomycin stimulation. The functions of IRF7 in mice are broad and diverse, covering a wide range of areas including immune regulation, antiviral response, inflammation and fibrosis, cardiovascular disease, metabolic regulation, and tumorigenesis.
