Target Information
C-X-C motif chemokine 11, also known as Interferon Inducible T-Cell Alpha Chemoattractant, is chemotactic for interleukin-activated T-cells but not for unstimulated T-cells, neutrophils, or monocytes. It triggers calcium release in activated T-cells and binds to the CXCR3 receptor. CXCL11 may play a significant role in central nervous system (CNS) diseases involving T-cell recruitment and in skin immune responses. In mice, CXCL11 is primarily associated with immune regulation, antiviral response, and immune infiltration in the tumor microenvironment. It tends to induce a state of tolerance rather than a pro-inflammatory state. In infection models, CXCL11 expression does not significantly alter the acute antiviral response but may influence the immune response by modulating the migration and function of immune cells in certain scenarios. CXCL11 enhances immune protection in lung infections, such as cryptococcal infection, through activation of the IFN-γ/STAT1 signaling pathway.
