Target Information

Interferon gamma, a type II interferon produced by immune cells such as T-cells and NK cells, plays vital roles in antimicrobial, antiviral, and antitumor responses by activating effector immune cells and enhancing antigen presentation. It primarily signals through the JAK-STAT pathway, interacting with its receptor IFNGR1 to influence gene regulation. When IFNG binds, the intracellular domain of IFNGR1 opens to facilitate the association of downstream signaling components JAK2, JAK1, and STAT1, leading to STAT1 activation, nuclear translocation, and transcription of IFNG-regulated genes. In mice, interferon gamma's functions are mainly observed in immune regulation, anti-tumor effects, and gene expression regulation. In mouse models, IFN-γ gene expression is tightly regulated post-transcriptionally. Some studies have explored the expression regulation mechanism of the human IFN-γ gene by transfecting it into mouse fibroblasts.
