Target Information

Integrins such as alpha-1/beta-1, alpha-2/beta-1, alpha-10/beta-1, and alpha-11/beta-1 serve as receptors for collagen. Specifically, integrins alpha-1/beta-1 and alpha-2/beta-2 bind to the proline-hydroxylated sequence G-F-P-G-E-R in collagen. Additionally, integrins alpha-2/beta-1, alpha-3/beta-1, alpha-4/beta-1, alpha-5/beta-1, alpha-8/beta-1, alpha-10/beta-1, alpha-11/beta-1, and alpha-V/beta-1 function as receptors for fibronectin. In mice, integrin β1 plays a vital role in various processes including embryonic development, cell migration, tissue repair, and has implications in disease models. For instance, in the muscular dystrophy mouse model (mdx mouse), activating integrin β1 can enhance muscle pathology and restore muscle strength. Moreover, in a skin keloid model, the absence of integrin β1 can mitigate Bleomycin-induced fibrosis, highlighting its significant role in the fibrotic process.
