Target Information

Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 1 (IGFBP1) is a multifunctional protein crucial for regulating the availability of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) such as IGF1 and IGF2 to their receptors. This regulation influences IGF-mediated cellular processes, including cell migration, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, in a cell-type specific manner. In mice, IGFBP1 plays diverse roles, including involvement in metabolism, liver protection, bone health, reproductive function, and cardiovascular protection. In models of hepatic steatosis (MASLD), exogenous IGFBP1 supplementation has been shown to improve hepatic steatosis and lower serum ALT and AST levels, highlighting its potential role in liver metabolic regulation.
