Target Information
Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates the effects of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1). It binds IGF1 with high affinity, and has a lower affinity for IGF2 and insulin (INS). Once activated, IGF1R plays a role in controlling cell growth and survival. It is crucial for tumor transformation and the survival of malignant cells. In mice, IGF1R is important for metabolic regulation, particularly in relation to sex-specific and age-related metabolic changes. Research has indicated that inhibiting the IGF1R signaling pathway can result in insulin resistance, elevated insulin levels, and alterations in growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) levels.
