Target Information
HINT2, an enzyme known as Adenosine 5'-monophosphoramidase, demonstrates the ability to hydrolyze purine nucleotide phosphoramidates that contain a single phosphate group. This activity converts compounds like adenosine 5'-monophosphoramidate (AMP-NH2) into AMP and NH2. Additionally, it can hydrolyze adenosine 5'-O-p-nitrophenylphosphoramidate (AMP-pNA). In mice, HINT2 plays crucial roles, including providing cardioprotection, modulating metabolism, regulating apoptosis, and influencing tumor development. Its importance is particularly noted in maintaining mitochondrial function, regulating calcium balance, and safeguarding against oxidative stress. HINT2 plays an important role in protecting cardiac function. HINT2 maintains mitochondrial calcium homeostasis by inhibiting the activation of mitochondrial calcium monooxygenase complex (MCU), thereby alleviating myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (I/R).
