Target Information

Golgi Protein 73 (GP73) is a transmembrane protein found in the Golgi apparatus, garnering significant attention for its role in liver cancer and other liver diseases. In mouse models, GP73 has been closely linked to the onset and progression of liver cancer. For instance, in PTEN-deficient mice infected with HBV, GP73 expression increased significantly, further promoting liver cancer development. Moreover, high GP73 expression in liver cancer cells correlates with boosted invasive capabilities, suggesting that GP73 may facilitate liver cancer cell invasion and metastasis by enhancing the expression of MMP-13. GP73 is also upregulated in various liver diseases, including alcoholic liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
