Target Information
Phosphatidylinositol-glycan-specific phospholipase D is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the inositol phosphate linkage in proteins anchored by phosphatidylinositol glycans (GPI-anchor), thereby releasing these proteins from the membrane. Studies have shown that Cap-independent translation of GPLD1 enhances markers of brain health in long-lived mutant and drug-treated mice. The function of GPI-PLD in mice involves the regulation of cell surface protein release, participation in inflammatory and immune responses, influence on neurogenesis and cognitive function, and a potential role in disease.
