Mouse Glutathione S Transferase Alpha 4 (GSTa4) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

In mice, GSTA4 (glutathione S-transferase α4) plays a multifaceted role, including mitigating oxidative stress, clearing lipid peroxides, and regulating various pathological and physiological processes. A primary function of GSTA4 is catalyzing the detoxification of lipid peroxidation products like 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE). While 4-HNE is a crucial signaling molecule, excess levels can lead to cytotoxicity. Research shows that GSTA4 deficiency results in elevated 4-HNE levels, exacerbating oxidative stress and cytotoxicity. In mice consuming chronic alcohol, GSTA4 deficiency markedly increases lipid peroxidation and protein carbonylation, causing liver damage and heightened inflammatory responses. Additionally, GSTA4 deficiency is linked to obesity, as increased lipid peroxide accumulation leads to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.
