Target Information
Glutamic acid (Glutamate) is an α-amino acid utilized by nearly all living organisms in the biosynthesis of proteins. It acts as a precursor for the synthesis of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in GABAergic neurons. The functions of glutamate in mice are broad and complex, covering the development and function of the nervous system, metabolic regulation, and key roles in disease models. Changes in glutamate metabolism may be associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice fed a high-fat diet.
