Target Information
The mouse glucocorticoid receptor (GR) holds significant importance across various biological domains, including metabolic regulation, immune response, neurobehavior, and reproduction. The glucocorticoid receptor gene in mice comprises nine exons, with its expression governed by at least three promoters showing variable activity across different cell types and tissues. GR influences the transcription of target genes by binding to specific DNA sequences, such as glucocorticoid response elements (GRE). In metabolic processes, GR plays a key role; for instance, in the liver, it regulates gluconeogenesis by controlling the expression of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), thus affecting blood glucose levels. Mouse studies have shown low expression levels of GRβ, potentially linked to glucocorticoid resistance. Furthermore, research indicates that GRβ expression increases under certain conditions, such as after LPS treatment, suggesting its involvement in regulating immune responses.
