Target Information

Gasdermin-D is the precursor to a pore-forming protein crucial for defending the host against pathogen infections and danger signals. Upon cleavage, it releases an N-terminal fragment (Gasdermin-D, N-terminal) that binds to membranes and creates pores, thereby triggering pyroptosis. In mice, Gasdermin-D fulfills several important roles, including serving as a primary executor of cell pyroptosis, regulating inflammatory responses, and being involved in the onset and progression of various diseases. As a key executor of pyroptosis, Gasdermin-D is cleaved by inflammatory caspases (such as caspase-1 and caspase-11) to produce the N-terminal fragment (GSDMD-N). This fragment perforates the cell membrane, resulting in the release of cellular contents and cell death.
