Target Information
Gamma-endorphin influences the behavioral patterns of mice by altering dopamine (DA) metabolism. Specifically, administering gamma-endorphin leads to significant changes in the levels of dopamine and its metabolites, such as 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid and homovanillic acid (HVA), in the striatum of the mouse brain, which are closely linked to variations in behavior. In the context of the immune system, gamma-endorphin and its precursors, like β-endorphin, have the ability to suppress T cell-mediated immune responses. For instance, both β-endorphin and gamma-endorphin can markedly inhibit the proliferation response of mouse spleen cells to specific antigens.
