Target Information

Fucosyltransferase 8 is responsible for catalyzing the addition of fucose in an alpha 1-6 linkage to the initial GlcNAc residue, adjacent to the peptide chains in N-glycans. In mice, Fut8 (α-1,6-fucosyltransferase) has a wide range of critical functions, such as regulating glycosylation modifications of glycoproteins, influencing cell signaling, and participating in various physiological and pathological processes. Mice lacking Fut8 exhibit significant growth retardation and lung lesions reminiscent of emphysema due to the dysregulation of TGF-β and EGF signaling pathways. This disruption results in impaired differentiation of alveolar epithelial cells and abnormal expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), leading to the destruction of lung structure.
