Target Information

Fibroblast growth factor 9 (FGF9) is crucial in regulating embryonic development, cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. It may influence glial cell growth and differentiation during development, contribute to gliosis during brain tissue repair and regeneration, and support neuronal cell differentiation and survival, as well as promote the growth of glial tumors. In mice, FGF9 is involved in various functions, including sex determination, lung and testicular development, and bone metabolism. It plays a pivotal role in sex determination, where it collaborates with Wnt4 to regulate gonadal development. The absence of FGF9 can cause male-to-female sex reversal. Additionally, FGF9 is vital for testicular development, as it enhances steroid production in mouse testicular interstitial cells by activating the Akt and MAPK signaling pathways.
