Target Information

Fibroblast Activation Protein Alpha (FAP) is a cell surface glycoprotein and serine protease that plays a key role in extracellular matrix degradation and is involved in numerous cellular processes, including tissue remodeling, fibrosis, wound healing, inflammation, and tumor growth. As a membrane-bound serine protease belonging to the proline peptidase family, FAP possesses dual catalytic activity, functioning both as a dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP) and as an endopeptidase. During mouse embryonic development, FAP is expressed in embryonic stroma, areas of wound healing, and tumor-associated fibroblasts, highlighting its critical role in tissue remodeling and repair. Additionally, FAP demonstrates significant activity in mouse models of liver cirrhosis, further emphasizing its involvement in fibrotic processes.
