Target Information

The fibrinogen degradation product D fragment (FDP-D) has the ability to stimulate interleukin-6 (IL-6) production in the mouse liver. Research has demonstrated that FDP-D significantly elevates IL-6 levels without involving prostaglandins, as it does not affect the levels of prostaglandins E2 (PGE2) and D2. Certain FDP fragments, such as D and E fragments, possess anticoagulant properties. For instance, FDP-D inhibits thrombus formation by preventing the polymerization of fibrin monomers, while FDP-E provides an anticoagulant effect by competitively inhibiting thrombin's action on fibrinogen. Moreover, in cultured mouse hepatocytes, FDP-D directly stimulates the biosynthesis of fibrinogen.
