Target Information

Estradiol is a hormone naturally produced by the ovaries in the human body. It plays a vital role in regulating the menstrual cycle and influences the cardiovascular, neurologic, skeletal, and vascular systems, among others. Research has demonstrated that estradiol enhances cortical and trabecular bone accrual and strengthens bones in an adolescent male-to-female mouse model undergoing gender-affirming hormone therapy. In a postmenopausal mouse model, estradiol treatment significantly increased bone mineral density, suggesting a potential protective role for estradiol against osteoporosis.
