Target Information

Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3, also known as Interleukin-27 subunit beta, combines with IL-27 to form the IL-27 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine that plays a role in innate immunity. IL-27 exhibits both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties, capable of regulating T-helper cell development, suppressing T-cell proliferation, stimulating cytotoxic T-cell activity, inducing isotype switching in B-cells, and exerting various effects on innate immune cells. In mice, the functions of IL-27 subunit β (p28) are complex and multifaceted, encompassing anti-inflammatory actions, anti-tumor activity, T cell function regulation, neuroprotection, and metabolic regulation. In tumor models, IL-27 demonstrates significant anti-tumor effects. For instance, in the C26 mouse model of colon cancer, IL-27 can inhibit tumor growth and enhance the anti-tumor immune response. Additionally, IL-27 can impede tumor progression by inducing apoptosis and causing cell cycle arrest.
