Target Information
In mice, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (EGFR) primarily facilitates cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, and signal transduction. During the branching morphogenesis of the mouse fetal mandibular gland (SMG), EGF initiates signaling pathways like ERK-1/2 and PI3K via EGFR2, thus managing cell proliferation and differentiation. EGFR2 also exhibits anti-apoptotic properties in mouse hepatocytes. Research indicates that EGF can shield hepatocytes from apoptosis by activating EGFR2's tyrosine kinase activity. In the trophoblast cells of mouse embryos, EGF induces the secretion of hCG and human placental lactogen (hPL), both crucial for embryonic development.
