Target Information

Alpha-enolase is a glycolytic enzyme responsible for catalyzing the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate. Beyond its role in glycolysis, it participates in various functions, including growth control, hypoxia tolerance, and allergic responses. It may also play a role in the intravascular and pericellular fibrinolytic system by acting as a receptor and activator of plasminogen on the surface of several cell types, such as leukocytes and neurons, and it stimulates immunoglobulin production. In mouse cells, alpha-enolase serves as a key enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, with its activity tightly linked to energy metabolism. For instance, in mouse muscle tissue, the expression and activity of alpha-enolase are regulated, underscoring its vital role in energy metabolism.
