Target Information
Dipeptidyl peptidase 8 (DPP8) is an enzyme that removes N-terminal dipeptides from proteins with a Pro or Ala residue at the second position. DPP8 is highly expressed in mouse macrophages, showing notably higher activity compared to other cell types like J774 macrophages. Research has demonstrated that inhibitors targeting DPP8/9 can reduce the activation of M1 macrophages, leading to decreased secretion of proinflammatory factors such as IL-6, TNFα, and NO. Beyond the immune system, DPP8 is also found in various tissues, including the liver, kidney, and intestine. In the context of liver fibrosis, the expression level of DPP8 is significantly increased.
