Mouse Dickkopf Related Protein 1 (DKK1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Dickkopf-related protein 1 (DKK1) acts as an antagonist of canonical Wnt signaling by blocking the interaction between LRP5/6 and Wnt, and by forming a complex with the transmembrane protein KREMEN, which fosters the internalization of LRP5/6. Independently of Wnt, DKK1 also suppresses KREMEN1's pro-apoptotic activity, thereby exhibiting anti-apoptotic properties. In mice, DKK1 primarily functions to inhibit the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which is crucial for bone development, immune regulation, kidney protection, and the progression of various diseases. In osteoporosis models, DKK1 expression levels are inversely related to disease progression. Research indicates that DKK1 hinders osteoblast differentiation and encourages osteoclast formation by blocking the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, leading to bone loss. Moreover, decreased expression of DKK1 in aged mice is associated with the onset of age-related osteoporosis.
