Target Information
Decorin is a small proteoglycan associated with collagen fibrils in all connective tissues. In the skeletal system, it is primarily located in the extracellular matrix of articular cartilage, which covers the surface of adult bones in movable joints. Research has shown that the absence of decorin reduces glucose tolerance in overfed male mice. Decorin is a multifunctional proteoglycan that plays a key role in a variety of tissues and diseases. Its deletion often leads to abnormal tissue structure and function, and overexpression or supplemental treatment of Decorin may provide potential strategies for the treatment of multiple diseases.
