Target Information

Cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 2 (CysLT2) serves as a receptor for cysteinyl leukotrienes, operating through a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. In mice, CysLT2 receptors have critical roles, including regulating vascular permeability, promoting tumor growth and metastasis, participating in neuroimmune regulation, and influencing cardiovascular function. These receptors are present in various mouse tissues, such as the brain, bladder, skin, and muscle, and their activation can significantly enhance vascular permeability. For instance, in mice lacking CysLT2R, vascular leakage induced by LTE4 injection was notably reduced, highlighting CysLT2 receptors' crucial role in LTE4-triggered vascular permeability. Furthermore, CysLT2 receptors manage vascular permeability through a transendosome transport mechanism rather than a classical bypass pathway, a process reliant on Ca²⁺ signaling.
