Target Information

Macrophage colony-stimulating factor 1 (CSF-1) is a cytokine crucial for regulating the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells, particularly mononuclear phagocytes like macrophages and monocytes. It stimulates the release of pro-inflammatory chemokines, thereby playing a vital role in innate immunity and inflammatory processes. CSF-1 is also important in regulating osteoclast proliferation and differentiation, bone resorption, and is necessary for normal bone development. In mice, CSF-1 has several key functions, including promoting the generation of macrophages and monocytes, maintaining hematopoiesis within the bone marrow environment, participating in inflammatory and immune responses, and influencing the onset and progression of diseases.
