Target Information

Type V collagen is part of group I collagen, known for forming fibrillar structures, and is a minor component of connective tissue found throughout the body. It interacts with various molecules such as DNA, heparan sulfate, thrombospondin, heparin, and insulin, playing a crucial role in the assembly of tissue-specific matrices. COL5A2, a subunit of Type V collagen, is significant in the progression of various fibrotic diseases. In a mouse model of intimal adhesions (IUA), increased expression of COL5A2 is linked to fibrosis. Additionally, in a mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), COL5A2 is found to inhibit the migration and invasion of drug-resistant cells by downregulating LIFR expression.
