Target Information

Type I collagen belongs to group I collagen, which forms fibrillar collagen. In mice, the collagen alpha-2(I) chain is encoded by the Col1a2 gene and is widely distributed in connective tissues such as skin, tendons, ligaments, and bones. Studies have shown that the collagen α-2(I) chain is expressed in various tissues, with expression levels differing among them. In certain disease models, like Alport syndrome, abnormal expression of the collagen α-2(I) chain may be linked to pathological changes. Understanding the function of the collagen α-2(I) chain is crucial for comprehending the biological characteristics of connective tissue and the pathogenesis of related diseases.
