Beyond its role in coagulation, FXIII interacts with cell surface integrins through its subunits, such as FXIIIa, to enhance cell adhesion and migration. For instance, FXIII binds to integrins α9β1 and α4β1, promoting cell adhesion and migration. Additionally, FXIII A1 has been linked to the formation and metabolism of adipose tissue in obese mouse models, suggesting a potential role in local metabolic regulation.
