Target Information

B-lymphocyte antigen CD19 serves as a coreceptor for the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) on B-lymphocytes, lowering the threshold for activating downstream signaling pathways and triggering B-cell responses to antigens. It activates pathways leading to the activation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and the mobilization of intracellular Ca2+ stores. In mice, CD19 plays multiple roles, including regulating B cell development, activation, and differentiation, influencing humoral immunity and autoimmune responses, and interacting with the complement system and other molecules. Abnormal CD19 function is linked to various diseases; for example, in a systemic lupus erythematosus model, mice overexpressing CD19 exhibited high titers of autoantibodies and severe autoimmune reactions.
