Target Information

Monocyte differentiation antigen CD14 serves as a coreceptor for bacterial lipopolysaccharide, working in conjunction with LBP to bind monomeric lipopolysaccharide and deliver it to the LY96/TLR4 complex. This process mediates the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In mice, the Cd14 gene is located on chromosome 18 and forms a colinear gene cluster with various receptor-encoding genes, such as Pdrgf, Adrb2r, Li, Grl-1, and Fms, suggesting that Cd14 functions as a pattern recognition receptor in immune responses. Cd14 is crucial for the immune system in mice, particularly in LPS-induced inflammatory responses. Research indicates that Cd14 can bind to LPS and its related components, subsequently activating downstream signaling pathways like NF-κB, which then trigger the release of pro-inflammatory factors.
