Target Information

Chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 4 (CHD4) is an ATP-dependent helicase that binds to and distorts nucleosomal DNA. It is a component of the histone deacetylase NuRD complex, which is involved in chromatin remodeling. CHD4 plays significant biological roles in mice and other mammals, particularly in chromatin remodeling, gene expression regulation, DNA damage repair, and cancer development. It regulates nucleosome loading and dynamic chromatin remodeling by interacting with chromatin-associated proteins such as BRIT1 and p300. For instance, the interaction between CHD4 and BRIT1 is crucial for the chromatin localization of BRIT1. Defects in BRIT1 can impair the cell's ability to repair DNA damage, thereby increasing cancer risk.
