Target Information
Cholecystokinin is a peptide hormone that triggers gallbladder contraction and the release of pancreatic enzymes in the gut. Its role in the brain remains unclear. By binding to CCK-A receptors, it stimulates the release of amylase from the pancreas, while binding to CCK-B receptors promotes gastric acid secretion. In mice, the functions of CCK are extensive and complex, including roles in gastrointestinal motility, appetite regulation, pancreatic function, metabolic processes, and other physiological activities. These functions are realized through the interaction of CCK with its receptors and its synergistic effects with other hormones, such as insulin and gastrin.
