Target Information

Calcitonin gene-related peptide 1 (CGRP1/CALCA) is a peptide hormone that triggers vasodilation through the CALCRL-RAMP1 receptor complex, affecting various vessels, including those in the coronary, cerebral, and systemic circulatory systems. Its high concentration in the central nervous system suggests it may serve as a neurotransmitter or neuromodulator. Additionally, CGRP1 increases platelet cAMP levels and can bind to and activate the CALCR-RAMP1 (AMYR1) receptor complex. In mice, CGRP has diverse functions, such as regulating nervous system activity, immune responses, vasodilation, and playing a role in pain and inflammation management.
