Target Information

Complement C1q and tumor necrosis factor-related protein 9, commonly referred to as CTRP9, is likely an adipokine that activates the AMPK, AKT, and p44/42 MAPK signaling pathways. In mice, CTRP9 primarily functions in cardioprotection, metabolic regulation, and inflammatory response. It has a protective role in heart disease, as studies indicate that low-intensity exercise increases CTRP9 levels by activating insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which enhances the protective capacity of cardiac cells and mitigates damage following a myocardial infarction. Furthermore, CTRP9 supports cardiomyocyte protection through AMPK activation in ischemia-reperfusion models, reducing both the myocardial infarction area and apoptosis.
