Target Information

C-X-C motif chemokine 5 is involved in recruiting inflammatory cells to injured or infected tissue. GCP-2(1-78) and, more effectively, GCP-2(9-78) attract neutrophils and play a role in their activation. In mice, Cxcl5 (C-X-C chemokine ligand 5) serves various functions related to immune regulation, inflammatory response, metabolic regulation, and tumor progression. In cases where mouse lungs were infected with the H1N1 virus, Cxcl5 expression significantly increased, while its loss led to a reduced viral load, indicating its role in antiviral immunity. Additionally, Cxcl5 enhances the immune response by recruiting B cells and promoting antibody production. In models of intestinal inflammation, the loss of Cxcl5 decreased neutrophil recruitment but increased B cell accumulation, highlighting its role in regulating immune cell dynamics.
