Target Information

β-thromboglobulin (β-TG) is a protein specific to platelets, primarily secreted into the plasma during the platelet release reaction. It serves as a marker of platelet activation, with changes in its concentration indicating the degree of this activation. In animal models, research on β-TG primarily addresses platelet activation and coagulation mechanisms. Studies have demonstrated that β-TG can influence inflammatory responses in certain animal models by interacting with polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Additionally, interactions between β-TG and other molecules, such as platelet agglutinin, have been confirmed in these models.
