Mouse Beta-1,3-Galactosyltransferase 2 (b3GALT2) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Beta-1,3-galactosyltransferase 2 is an enzyme that facilitates the transfer of galactose from UDP-galactose to substrates with a terminal beta-N-acetylglucosamine (beta-GlcNAc) residue. It can also work with substrates having a terminal galactose residue, albeit less efficiently. This enzyme is crucial in the biosynthesis of the carbohydrate components of glycolipids and glycoproteins. In mice, B3GALT2 is involved in various functions, including the development and maintenance of the nervous system, cognitive function, protection against ischemic stroke, and potential immunomodulatory effects. It is highly expressed in the adult mouse brain, particularly in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus. Research indicates that knocking out the B3GALT2 gene or losing its function significantly impairs spatial learning and memory in adult mice, highlighting its essential role in these cognitive processes.
