Target Information
Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B, also known as B-cell-activating factor (BAFF), is a cytokine that binds to the receptors TNFRSF13B/TACI and TNFRSF17/BCMA. The cytokine TNFSF13/APRIL also binds to these two receptors, creating a dual ligand-receptor pathway that plays a crucial role in stimulating B- and T-cell functions and regulating humoral immunity. Additionally, a third receptor specific to B-cells, the BAFF-receptor (BAFFR/BR3), supports the survival of mature B-cells and enhances the B-cell response. In mice, TNFSF13B is involved in various biological processes, primarily focusing on B-cell activation, immune regulation, and its involvement in multiple diseases, including autoimmune disorders, tumors, and osteoporosis.
