Mouse ATP Binding Cassette Transporter A1 (ABCA1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

ATP Binding Cassette Transporter A1 (ABCA1) facilitates the translocation of specific phospholipids from the cytoplasmic side to the extracellular or lumenal leaflet of the membrane, a process coupled with ATP hydrolysis. This action contributes to the transfer of phospholipids to apolipoproteins, forming nascent high-density lipoproteins (HDLs). In mice, ABCA1 has a notable anti-atherosclerotic effect. Research shows that ABCA1 mitigates diet-induced atherosclerosis by regulating lipoprotein composition. For instance, in the hABCA1-Tg mouse model, overexpression of ABCA1 significantly increases levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and pre-β-high-density lipoprotein (pre-B-HDL), while reducing cholesterol in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), thereby inhibiting atherosclerosis development.
