Target Information

Serine-protein kinase ATM is a serine/threonine protein kinase that initiates checkpoint signaling in response to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), apoptosis, and genotoxic stresses like ionizing ultraviolet A light (UVA), functioning as a DNA damage sensor. This kinase is integral to the DNA damage response in mammals, playing a pivotal role in biological processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, immune response, and tumor development. In mice, mutations in the ATM gene can result in various physiological and developmental issues, including growth retardation, chromosome fragmentation, meiotic failure, immune deficiencies, and the development of thymic lymphoma.
