Sheep EIF4EBP1 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1) is a key regulator of translation initiation. It inhibits cap-dependent translation by binding to eIF4E and competing with eIF4G, thus preventing the assembly of the eIF4F complex. This protein is regulated by phosphorylation through pathways such as mTOR and PI3K/Akt, which modulate its activity in response to growth factors and stress.
